Windows XP Installation: Keeps BSOD'ing.

I have been trying to install WindowsXP all day and every time I get a BSOD. The error messages are always different.

Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
Seagate 120GB Harddrive
Nvidia 7900 GS
1GB Pc3200 Kingston RAM
Abit KN8 Motherboard
 
Soundcard ?

I had the same issue with an old SBLive!, ended up having to get a new Soundcard.

You might try it without a Soundcard (if you have one) or maybe any other PCI cards you have installed. It may just be causing a conflict that the install can't deal with.

 
Not much to go on, it would help to post what messages & at what point in install it craps out. If you have USB mouse or K/B you might try hooking them to PS/2
 
BSODs may indicate memory problems. Try running Memtest86 from a bootable Memtest floppy or CD. If you're getting errors in Memtest, you may just need to bump the memory voltage a little bit ("fancy" RAM often calls for more voltage than the default).

^^ fixes a lot of my BSOD issues from fresh installs... sometimes it's the video memory too.
