I just got a new motherboard and stuff for a computer. Whenever I try to install windows xp, windows 2000, or windows 2003 server it locks up on the 'setup is starting windows' screen before it even starts installing. It installs windows 98 SE perfectly fine. Any idea's on what could be wrong?

MB-Asus A7V8X-MX
256 ddr ram
onboard video
onboard lan
onboard sound
AMD 2200 XP

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You probably have a memory, motherboard, or power supply problem. Before changing parts, be sure you are using "safe" BIOS settings (don't optimize anything until you get the system working first).

Thanks for the help. I've already tried installing w/ the sound and lan off and with diff video cards. I am using the 'safe' bios settings as well. I guess it might be the memory. I'll try changing that and see if it helps. Right now I have it running Win98 with no problems at all and I am using all the onboard stuff.
