Windows xp install on SATAII hard drive

I just bought a sata II hard drive. Formatted using manufacturer's software.

When I tried to install Windows XP on this new drive,it stops after the window copied files"Starting Windows"
Any idea how to do a clean install on this hard drive,
Do I need to Hit F6 at the start and load any third party software?

I am using ASUS MB with P4 3.0GB processor.
The motherboard already have 2 SATA connectors.
🙁

Do you mean the mobo has built in SATA connectors or two sata hdd's are already connected? If it's the former than yes need to hit F6 during setup to install the SATA drivers.
