I wuz playin SC 'n my system just instantly shut down on me and rebooted. Screen came up sayin' that NTFSD was missing. Did a Windows XP installation CD boot, but the blue screen will hang when it comes to "starting windows."
I can boot on an IDE drive. but the SATA drive refuses to work with my system, for some odd reason. Maybe it's my crappy mobo PC CHIPS (which has been working fine for quite a while), or it's my stupid SATA drive that has so much junk on it, that it will execute some commands that won't allow me to continue in anyway with Windows XP on it. This sucks.

is it stopping at the point where it says press F6 and insert drivers? you will, then, need the SATA drivers on a floppy to continue.

No, I can get the detection of SATA, but I'm guessing that it's the corrupt drivers, because I waited for a much longer time... and it finally got it running. Repair didn't work, so I had to erase the whole drive. Not all registry files are replaced, thus you waste time reparing. The recovery console is better if you wanted to save old HD files.

The BIOS detection of the SATA drive has nothing to do with Windows knowing how to access the drive. Press F6 when prompted as HN said and give Windows the floppy (and it must be on floppy) with the SATA drivers.
