Windows XP install crashes at Kernel Debugger DLL

I just built a system with an athlon xp 1800, MSI KT3 Ultra mobo, a gefore 2 MX , ,burned, dvd, ,and all. I am trying to install windows XP on the system and it gets past the system is checking your hardware configuration part, but then hangs on loading the kernel debugger dll. i tried to instal win 2k instead and the system hung on loading the machine identification. i tried using a different mobo and it still wont work. what the hell could be wrong. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks.
