O.K. guys I have searched Anandtech and the rest of the internet with no luck for this.

I have three Windows XP Pro computers on my network. All that is available in my area is 56k Dialup. I have all computers connected via a 10/100 switch. Computer1 is my internet gateway. When I first create a DUN connection and share it, ICS works on the clients and the clients can pull DHCP. But when I reboot Computer1, ICS does not work, and DHCP cannot be obtained from the clients. I have to go through the stupid network setup wizard or delete my DUN connection and recreate/share it to get ICS to work again. When you view the DUN connection immediately after reboot, it doesn't even show to be shared. Somehow ICS is being disabled upon boot.

I have a legit copy of XP Pro and it is patched to SP1. The same for all the clients.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

My only comment concerning all of these wizards is DUH! There is no magic in the Network Wizard.

It is quirky; you much better off configuring manually through the Control Panel/Network Connections.

As for ICS, it is quirky too. Can work well few month and then act out.

However been a dialup person you are in a bind. Getting a Router with a dialup capacity and external modem will run you $100 or more.

Help on ICS here:

JackMDS - Have you ever heard of this before? I have used every version of ICS since 98SE and never had it happen.

As far as the router with dial up capacity, not gonna do it. I'll just use a 3rd party software of some kind until DSL is installed at my C.O.

Thanks for the link, but this is not a beginner's issue.
