Aiight, here we go. I found 2 upgrade boxes for xp home. they are both retail bought. but the thing is, neither of them are in use. for one of them it was on my parents pc then i pulled the hd out of their pc and formatted it and put 98 on it and gave the hd w/ 98 to a neighbor.i have the disk for that copy of xp. the other one was bought becuz we thought there was something wrong with the first disk (dont ask, i told them there was nothing wrong with it, just the insisted on buying another copy of it becuz it wouldnt install properly, turned out to be faulty ram causing the install problem) so after i replaced the faulty ram, i installed the first copy, then a few months later i installed the second copy after reformatting, installed the second one thinking it was the same one used first. both were activated. but the second copy i cant find the disk for. is that a problem in using it on another machine? but now none are in use and would like to know if i could somehow use them on other machines. any input appreciated, description a little long, but i like to be as thorough as possible in the first post.

Yes you can use it in other machines. You may have to call microsoft to activate it. After you install and try to activate it, it will tell you if you need to call or not and will give a 42 digit number(i think it is that many) . Call the number given, read the 42 digit number and they will give you a new number. Insert it into the activation part and you are all set.
