This is my first time using XP home.

How can i update it to sp2?
the windows update won't do this for me, should i download the sp2 file from else where?

You can order the SP2 on a CD from Microsoft at no charge .. takes about 1 week to get

see this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down...updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

It should let you download, if your copy of Windows XP is legit with a legit serial number
and it passes Windows Genuine Validation .. however, it is easier to have the cd

You might need to change your serial number for XP if it an illegal one or if SP2
won't install with the one you have .. there are many places that will tell you how
to do it (but you need to get the new legal serial number yourself from the proper
source)
