Windows XP Home to Win 2000 Professional?

One of the computers at my work was purchased with XP home installed on it. All other computers are using Windows 2000 professional. I wanted to put Windows 2000 Pro on the XP Home comp.
I went to try and put the Win 2000 CD in, and it disables the setup files. Is there a way to install Win 2000 without formatting?

No. Windows will not let you "downgrade" (even when you want to). Pretty sure you have to format.

If you want to just install 2000 you will have to format.

You could do a side-by-side install (basically a dual-boot) and it wouldnt require you to format. But you would be better off formating anyways since this would give you a "clean" install of 2K...
