I have been running version 1.1 and didn't like it at first because after installing it I would have to click on my picture icon to log on to windows when booting up. Later Microsoft came out with a update/patch for it that solved that issue.

I tried .net 2.0 and and could find no update/patch from Microsoft to let me boot straight to the desktop.

My questions are does .net 3.0 have this issue as well? Is .net 3.0 really needed?

thanks

It's difficult to imagine .net having anything to do with login prompts, and in any case (if that preference were reset) it's trivial to put it back to automatic logins of a certain user with a certain password.

But re: .Net 3.0 and whether you need it or not - that's easy. Do you have any programs that need it? If so, you need it. If not, you don't. :)

To boot up without having to click on your "picture"...

Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Net Account -> Delete...

Second, if any software that you have requires Net 3.0 then yes you will need it. If not, don't worry about it at this time.
