Windows XP home Recovery Console Password.

I bought this computer from DELL intel celeron and has WIN XP home. I am trying to fix some error and when i put installation disk to get to Recovery console it asks me for a password. I don't know where to find it. Can anyone help?

Uh huh.... sure.

Its the same as administrator password. If the computer is yours, you should know the password.

If it's a brand new computer it probably doesn't have a password, just hit enter maybe.

Otherwise read the manual that came with it, it'd likely say there.

As said above, if it's your computer it's the same password as the administrators account.

When I've tried to blank the administrator password on a XP Home box it usually errors out. I think it is because the administrator account in Home is crippled. You can only access it in safe mode.

This is my uncle's computer and i am working on fixing some files. He does not need any password to login to his user account but when i hit enter after putting in Boot CD it errors out.

Thanks for this info. This may be the problem that i am unable to get to Recovery Console. I will try to get the updated disks first and see if it works.

The way these read, there was a problem with this before service pack 1. You can call them for the fix, or use the updated 6 setup floppies.
