Windows XP Home rebooting

Malak

Ok my friend unplugs a monitor, keyboard, and mouse from a computer and borrows them to load some things on his machine. Afterwords he puts them back into the other computer and starts it up. The loading screen for windows runs and then... it reboots. Just before hitting the login screen it reboots. What can cause this, what are some solutions? Safe mode seems to have same error, loading previously ok config doesn't work either.

Oh yeah, the same thing started happening on the other machine too. But they were never directly connected.

try a different mouse and keyboard [after checking that they have been put into the correct slots first]. see if that fixes it.

We were having issues with a USB wireless NIC. It sticks out from the front of the computer, so it gets hit a lot. It was kinda messed up but we put it back together, it's been working fine just kinda falls apart. Could something have messed up in it that may have killed the USB on the mobo which may cause this? Just wild guesses.

Does A Blue Screen Scroll?
I Had A Problem With A Badly Installed USB mouse
so If You Have Your XP CD:
1) Get To The Recovery Console
2) Type CHKDSK
3) It should say something like:
Performing Adittional rescue tasks... __% done
4) Once finished type EXIT into the recovery console
5) It Will Reboot ...
6) PRAY...

Just to reiterate what montag451 said: the keyboard's in the purple hole, not green?
