XP has been running very smooth for a couple months now, but after I
installed the program Star Trek Voyager Elite Force on 1/24/02, I now receive this
message every time I boot into XP. (I think thats when it started).
I have since removed Elite Force, but I still receive this frickin annoying
message, also a minidump file is created each time. question....
Is there anyway to figger out what is causing this problem without
contacting M$. Does anyone know how to decipher the error codes reported
or the minidump file? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
....this system was running smooth for 2 months. minidumps started 1/24/02
thanks in advance.

One of the easiest things to try is to use the "system restore" feature of XP, that will allow you to go back in time BEFORE the problem appeared. Here's the info on how to use the System Restore Wizard.
Since you think it started after 1/24, try System Restore and choose to restore your system to the way it was on 1/23 (you choose via a calendar) or 1/22.

System Restore howto's

If that doesn't help, you can do a System File check that will restore your system files if they have been altered:

Click Start
Click Run
Enter in the box "sfc /scannow" without quotes. Click OK. Reboot after it's done. Have the CD ready in case it needs to restore files from it.

Thanks for the suggestions Slikkster.
I have tried system restore to 1/17/02 but the problem still
persisted. sorry I should have stated this in my original post.
I have also tried norton system works 2002 windows system checker,
this also provided no help. By the way Im sure it started on the 24th
due to the fact that the minidumps are dated and start that day
approximately near the time I installed Elite Force.
I will try the system file check that you suggested tonite.
thanks again for the response, greatly appreciated!

From a quick read on the newsgroups, this might help you. It involves deleting your Page File and letting Windows XP create a new one. Worth a shot. But there are some steps you need to take. They are outlined well in this newsgroup thread:

How to delete/recreate XP PageFile (pagefile.sys)

Note: when you click on the link above, you might find that the text in the window goes too far to the right. You can adjust that by hovering your mouse over the vertical divider line between the left and right columns and then "dragging" the divider by holding the left mouse button down while moving it to the left.

wow... that sounds like the fix ive been lookin for.
thanks for your time and help on this!
will give that a try tonite.
