Windows XP hangs when I switch users

I just built a brand new computer with a Asus P4T533-C and a P4 1.6a which has not been OC'ed yet and when I switch users in XP it reboots my computer, i have to log out and then log into another user which i smaking me mad....why car I swith users?

Are you using "Fast user switching" I'm assuming you are since it's default on XP unless you are logging into a domain controler.

I would try turning off fast user switching to see if it's a fast user switching issue, or a logoff issue.

Also try creating another couple of users for testing purposes. Don't install anything with them, just use them to test user switching.

ok...i tried this, but i want fast user switching thats when it chokes when I do fast user switching, my question is why?
I dont know, but if it doesnt crash when you turn off fast user switching it means it's not a logoff issue, it's a fast user switching issue.

have you tried searching MS's knowledgebase about this issue (now that you have it more pinned down)?

Does it crash when you "log off" or just when you "switch users"?

Have you done the Windows updates?

I noticed your other thread, are you having the other problems mentioned (which I cant for the life of me remember what it was) with this machine? Maybe it's a faulty install of XP...

Good Luck
