Hi
I am about to build a system for a friend who has a full version of windows 98SE. I can get an OEM version of XP or a Retail. My question is, if I get the OEM version, since it comes with a disk only, how to I activate it ? Also, is it legal to use an OEM version. Most computer shows sell OEM versions much cheaper than Retail versions. I also see that NEWEGG sells OEM versions if bought with hardware. (He doesn need a new h.d.). So, if I buy the OEM, how do I install and activate.
Many thanks

i have the oem version of winxp home and it works fine. the activation is built-in to winxp. it will notify you when it's time to activate or you can go to Activate Windows under Accessories\System Tools. all the numbers you'll need are in the pc when you install xp.
