I am using Windows XP and have a folder with a large amount of movie downloads in it. When I click on the folder to open it, it goes blank and my computer freezes up, forcing me to restart. I wonder if I have too many files in the folder? It currently has 53.9 GB. What should I do to resolve this? Many thanks.

I would carefully open up your hard drive and use a magnet to move the files into a different folder. However, if you don't have a torc screwdriver this might be impossible.

Make sure you are not in thumbnail view. Also the CMD Prompt method suggested above sounds like a good option.

Im guessing a) your not waiting long enough for explorer to scan the directory or b) you have a bad movie file which is crashing some codec which is extracting info from it for explorer.

As suggested, use the cmd prompt and split the directory up a bit see if that resolves it or narrows down the problem file.
