Windows XP: Explorer.exe: OWC11.dll eating RAM

Well, erm, hi, my name is Jason, but you can feel free to call me SF, or forum newbie, or whatever you like. Anyhow, Anandtech has been a good source of information for me, so I figured it might be able to help me with a question related to a couple dependancies of explorer.exe on my system.

In particular, I use a program called Faber Toys to monitor the happenings of my system, and to see what processes are using which dll's. To be blunt, there are two resource hogs on my system, firefox.exe, sometimes getting up above 100MB, but I have come to expect that, and explorer.exe, which is currently floating around 43MB. It used to float closer to 25, so I opened faber toys to check out why, here is what I have figured out:

- The culprits for this increase in memory usage are two dll's by the name of OWC11.dll and OWC10.dll. These dll's are somehow linked to microsoft office's online web components.

- They do not launch immediately with explorer.exe, but are launched in a delayed fashion, though I do not know what triggers it. (I think...)

- They seem to be recent additions, though I have had office installed for some time now.

What I have not figured out:

- What these dll's do for me?

- Why are they running without office?

- Can I safely shut them down somehow? 15MB here and there is enough to make a small difference in games.

Thanks for the input,

SF
