Hello AnandTech! I'm having a bit of trouble with my computer and my friend referred me here. While logged into my computer I accidentally changed the computer over from a domain to a local workgroup. I also changed the computer domain. This is a work pc, so when I restarted it I could not login. Frustrated I went and grabbed EBCD and unlocked the local admin account. I restarted and again I could not login, because the Local Login Policy would not allow me to login interactively. I need to find a way to change the login domain in the registry. I know where the specific key is Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. I have Eric Nordahl's Windows ofline registry editor and have been picking around and I finally found the key and changed it. I rebooted and attempted to login unsuccessfully. I went back in and looked at the key again, it was back to the original "wrong" domain. I then also realized that the registry was read only. What do I do!

Stop. Just stop.
Bring it to your company's IT department, apologize for dicking around with the domain settings and ask for help.

Call your company's IT department and apologize for dicking around with the domain settings?

Email your company's IT department and apologize for dicking around with the domain settings?

Telegraph your company's IT department and apologize for dicking around with the domain settings?

Send a Carrier Pigeon to your company's IT department and apologize for dicking around with the domain settings?

I think you are getting the idea

Okay, thanks for the help guys. I have one more question. What does the "Local policy will not allow you to login interactively" mean? I can't log in to any local account?

ERD or one of those tools will allow you to system restore from a boot image, system restore to before you mucked with it. AND THEN DONT DO IT AGAIN ;)
