I put my computer together myself so it didn't come with a dvd decoder plug-in. microsoft's website shows 4 different decoders but i'm not sure which to get. the intervideo one has only 2-channel audio. i only have 2 speakers now but i'd like one with the 5.1 in case i decide to upgrade. any suggestions or anyone know of free plug-ins? i have already downloaded one called storm codec and it works only for some DVDs...it was free

i downloaded Dscaler but it won't put a shortcut on the desktop or in the start menu...so i'm not even gonna bother with it anymore. i'll try that vlan thing next. do you have a link? yeah...i tried to watch no country for old men last night but it won't play. i might just end up buying one cause it'll be easier...though i'd rather not

Dscaler's not a separate program. Once it's installed, just open up Windows Media Player and your DVD should play.
