So I have a fresh install of Windows XP pro updated to service pack 3 running on an AMD x2 3800, socket 939. The motherboard has the latest bios and has been paired with this CPU for years without an issue.

So I was going through configuring the computer and opened up task manager and noticed that it appeared as if there was only 1 CPU in the system. I rebooted set all the bios options to factory default loaded windows and still under task manager 1 cpu is visible. I checked device manager it it sees 2 processors but doesn't seem to enable the 2nd core.

How does one fix this? Please don't tell me I need to reinstall windows..

Edit: Nevermind figured it out, manually updated my HAL files via devcon and get it to work.
