Windows XP custom resoluition

Any way to setup a custom resolution in Windows XP so a 50 in plasma will look nice.

the res needs to be 1366x768 @ 60 Hz

I would like to stay away from using apps to do this, any way to make changes in the registry to do this?

The video card in the PC is a standard Intel Graphics chip, so no nifty driver settings like you get with ATI or nVidia.

If you are using a newer ATI or NVIDIA video card, you should be able to force custom resolutions in the drivers. I believe Matrox can do this a s well.

right I found that out after doing some searching on the web and various HTPC forums.

Thing is that, this is at work and we have a Dell GX 270 thats going to be running the show, it has an Intel graphics chip (82865G), that comes with the chipset and the drivers from Intel are sub-par compaired to ones that can be used with an ATI or nVidia card.

Thats why I need a registry hack.

On a crappy IEG chip? Good luck. Powerstrip is your best bet.

Once it's set up, it should be transparent to the users.

You can probably also add a low-profile R9200SE or the like into the system. Then you could just make adjustments through ATI's drivers.

AVSForum also has a *lot* more information on hooking computers up to HDTVs.

Thats what I thought, got a pretty good quote on a nVidia FX 5200, will that work?

As long as it fits... I think you need low-profile PCI cards in that system.

You might also want to look over at AVSForum. I know some NVIDIA card/driver combinations were not playing nice with some HDTVs using DVI, and I'm not sure if all the problems have been resolved.
