My primary machine is doing some strange things. It continuously reboots itself.

When I turn it on, it asks whether I want to go into the traditional three types of safe mode, or normal windows. Any option I pick, and it brings up the windows banner, then a quick blue screen with some diagnostics that are on for just a flash then reboots.

The P4 had updated virus protection and zonealarm, it was running firefox at the time the symptom came up.

Any thoughts? How do I get a handle on this beast?

you are seeing a windows BSOD that is too fast to read. What changes have you made to the system? New hardward, drivers, software, OS Updates, etc.

This is one reason I disable auto updates, you never know when it may update your OS without telling you, and then you reboot and it's dead, and you havn't changed hardware/drivers.

I did have auto-updates enabled. I recently added a printer to the system, but that worked just fine. No other changes. :(

i had this happen to a pc i was working on for a lady, turned out to be that the hard drive (IBM Deathstar :)) had developed bad sectors and corrupted the OS. Maybe check that out.
