Hey all,

Quick summary of the problem. Can't install Windows XP straight due to an incompatibility with my ATTO RAID SCSI Controller so I have to install 2000 first then upgrade it to XP if I want to get XP on there. I did this and it upgraded but when I went to boot for the first time it got to the startup screen and then just rebooted. I let it go for a bit and it did the same thing three times before I just stopped it.

Looking this problem up I saw some things to try but they all involved me going into the recovery console. This I can only do if I remove that ATTO card. However, since I install Windows onto the RAID this would mean I can't access the Windows installation.

Currently I'm running Windows 2000 and it's ok but I do miss XP. Any ideas as to why it did this and how to fix it? I'm probably going to Ghost my system so I don't have to re-install and re-configure all this again cuz that was a pain.

A Link providing my system specs should be in my signature.

Make sure it isn't a problem of configuration in the BIOS or a hardware error. I was getting the same thing, and it turned out to be a hardware error... reboots and all.

BTW: Shouldnt this be in the troubleshooting topic?

I checked the BIOS, course I have no clue of what I'd be looking for beyond the right stuff is set to boot. Windows 2000 doesn't have a problem. As for hardware, again not sure. I recently upgraded my system. On my old system I was able to install Windows 2000 first then upgrade to XP and it was fine. Now if I do that I get the continual reboot problem.

Didn't see a troubleshooting section but perhaps this should have gone in the technical support section? I don't know.
