Windows XP computer slow after joining a domain

Recently I helped my friend put her two computers onto her work network with a domain. When she logs on the computer, it is really slow. When she tries to open My Computer, it takes about 10 - 15 seconds for it to open. Browsing through the computer is laggy too. Adding printer, add/remove programs, control panel and looking at the the network properties, it's all very laggy and slow in response. Both computers weren't experiencing any laggyness before adding onto a domain. There are no software running in the background. They're both Dells, but not sure what the exact components were. Any help would be great. Thanks

It might be her computer checking to see if she has permission to do what she wants to do. In other words GPO's aren't applying right or are refreshing too fast. Any other problems with other Domain computers? Is the Domain using roaming policies for users?
