Windows XP compatible USB wifi adapter?

Until early next year when I will buy new computers, I’m using a 2008 Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz Sony laptop running Windows 7 that plays youtube videos online okay without overheating.

But if possible, I would also like to add wifi to (yes lol) a Pentium IV 3.2GHz Dell desktop pc; 2GB memory. It runs Windows XP SP3 and has this video card.

And hardware and XP version are 32-bit.

Firefox ended support for Windows XP but I have Opera 36 installed. Otherwise, Internet Explorer 8 is said to be the safest choice, as Microsoft apparently does in fact continue to supply security patches. https://geekcrunch.reviews/review-internet-browsers-windows-xp/

I certainly won't be doing any online with this dinosaur other than shopping, email and playing 720p youtube videos.

I've always read that ASUS was supposed to be long a trusted motherboard brand, but customer experience seems much less positive here at least with this product.

And could I expect even more problems than these customers had with this wifi adapter if used with Windows XP 32 bit systems?

Or might there be another USB wifi adapter that would likely work much better in my case?

Consider a Lenovo IdeaPad 110S? It has dual-band Wifi, and comes with a netbook attached... LOL.

I guess if it still works. Why not Linux, rather than XP though?

I think older, generic, RealTek-based wifi N150 / N300 NICs should be compatible with Linux and XP. (I'm sorry, I don't remember the chipset offhand, but I want to say, 8192 or something like that.)

Edit: I was right, search ebay for "RTL8192 USB", there's tons of them, it's an XP-era chipset, so should be well-supported.

The results might vary since XP dealing with the security encryption might force use of the 2.4 GHz band.

But even if so, it works better than the regular internal Wireless that comes with old laptops.

The USB Wireless (as I mentioned above) works Technically with XP.

The problem is the General lack of security of the old XP. Wireless or Wire, Win XP has to be used in a special protective environment or Not to be use at All.
