Windows XP CD-key retrival utility

This actually works. Here's a quote from the webpage:

"Windows XP key retrieval utility

If you happen to have several Windows XP product keys, but cannot match them to the computers that you used these keys with, this program should help you to do it. While it would not print complete key (for security reasons), the part it prints should be sufficient to find a match."

It only gives the first and last group of keys but at least all the peeps who are concerned about whether or not they're running a questionable version of XP can find out.

Get it here.

sounds a bit sketchy. noone i know has som nay versions of XP they cant figure out what copy they have on which rig. if they did, they'd opt for the corporate version so they can avoid the activation headache on that large a company. this might be a scam retrieval utility like the ones that steal your multiplayer id in some games, when you think it is just generating new ones to "avoid headache."

I doubt it. I scanned it with NAV and Tauscan Trojan scanner and it passed. Nothing has tried to "phone-home" (at least according to Zone Alarm) since I ran it.

It did correctly ID my CD-Key and I couldn't care less if they try and steal it. My OS is activated to me, I don't think someone else could use my key to install XP on their computer so it wouldn't do them much good. Hell, I'll publish my key for everyone to see, if they want to try it.

What this utility is very useful for is for the people who wonder if they have the "FCKGW..." key to be able to find out before they try and install sp1. That way they can do something about it before they install sp1 and get locked out of their computer, or M$ Update.
