Windows XP cant get past login screen

Hi, so my desktop has recently been having error messages pop-up that were definitely spyware related so I ran adaware and removed the files that were infected. I restarted my computer and when i tried to login to windows an error message appeared in spanish that asks about windows activation, pressing either yes or no logs me in for a second then back to the welcome screen and displays the same error message. I do not have my Windows XP cd around so I cannot try a repair and i do not want to lose everything on my computer. I can get in under safe mode, but not safe mode with networking. Also my system restore will not work, everytime i click next it does nothing, but i doubt system restore would fix the problem anyways. Anyone have any ideas? Running adaware again in safe mode, but i think my registry is messed up which is causing the problem. I can download stuff on my laptop and burn to a cd if anyone has any programs that could fix this problem.

Thanks!

The easiest and fastest way is probably to reformat. You could end up trying to remove that junk for hours and hours.

In any case, you should probably try to back up your data first.

You can go into safe mode with command prompt
and after documentsandsettings\your name>_
type the following
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
