Windows XP -BSODs- Will Not Install For Me.. HELP!

Conundrum

Senior member
Ok.. I've had it. On my main rig no matter what I do this operating system will not install. This is the ninth time I've made an attempt to install Windows XP on it unsuccessfully.

To get us started... here's my hardware setup:
AMD Athlon XP 1900+
2 Crucial PC2100 DDR 256 meg modules
2 Maxtor D540 7200 RPM ATA-133 hard drives configured in RAID-0... striped
Abit KR7A-RAID
Lian-Li PC-60
ATI 8500
Sound Blaster Audigy
Netgear 312 NIC
TDK 16X burner
Toshiba DVD-ROM

The BIOS has been flashed to the latest version. Windows 2000 will install on the machine just fine. As a matter of fact, I decided to attempt to install the operating system as an upgrade to Windows 2000 this time. Instead of attempting a fresh install. The problem appears to me to be with the operating system REMEMBERING how to access the RAID array. If I don't hit f6 when it's loading setup.. XP will give me this BSOD. If I hit f6 and give it the correct drivers to use for my HPT controller.. then it loads into the setup screen just fine. It goes through and installs. When it goes to reboot though.. the BSOD returns. The exact same problem it has when it isn't loading the right drivers to talk to the RAID controller.

The real kicker is that my good friend has the EXACT same setup.. with the exception of my 2 Maxtor D540 HDs... down to the power supply we both upgraded to. Guess what... his installs with no problem. I'm stumped. I've pulled the video card and put in a GeForce to see if it was a problem with the 8500. I pulled both the sound card and the NIC. Nothing changes anything. I've used the failsafe defaults for the BIOS to make sure my tweaking it wasn't an issue. I'm firmly convinced XP simply isn't using the drivers to talk to the RAID controller. I would REALLY appreciate any and all assistance. This is insanely frustrating... especially since everyone else in the entire USA seems to be able to just plop the CD in and have it work.

Oh.. and it's alway the same error:
