Windows XP BootUp screen filled with horizontal blips.

I just got a BFG 7800 GTX 256. I installed it and connected it to my LCD via a single link DVI connection. Everything is great, except when i before and during the bootup process where i see the windows xp bar sliding from left to right.

Essentially, i see like three or four horizontal electrical overload blips throughout the entire bootup process. Its quite annoying and makes me question wether its even damaging my monitor.

I checked the bios, but nothing these can prevent the bootup screen being disabled in some way or another.

Essentially, is there a way that i can get rid of those blips or the entire bootup screen without having to resort to turning on my monitor only after the computer has booted up, which is apparently not recommended. Although that idea, of turning on the monitor before the computer, may only hold true for non plug and play monitors and for the first time the monitor is being hooked up to the computer.

I really need to get rid of it or to know that its ok to turn on the monitor after the computer boots up.

Thanks.

I just got the card today. Brand new and retail.

However, I just noticed that the blips actually happen before the bootup gets to the windows XP logo and that progress bar.

I also cant check it on another computer. Its PCI-e X16 card and i only have one computer that supports PCI-e X16.

I dont see how you find that funny. But your ideas could be correct. I think thats just the way my monitor is. When i have the ATI X1800 Xt hooked up, i dont see anything in the boot process at all. Just a black screen with my monitor showing me that its in DVI signal one. Once the bootup is complete, then the desktop appears. Which is actually very nice. But for this reason, i catn actually install my OS in DVI mode. I have to plug the monitor in analog mode or use a different monitor.

Maybe i should just keep my monitor turned off until its finished booting. But its annoying to do that because it seems like the monitor should be the first thing to come on so that the computer can detect it before loading the drivers.

I dont know.
