Try booting of the Windows XP disk and don't format, try installing windows over your present Windows and see if that replaces the dll.

thanks for the replies,

have you tried doing the repair?

what do you mean by doing the repair?
and how to do it? thanks

Try booting of the Windows XP disk and don't format, try installing windows over your present Windows and see if that replaces the dll.

I can try this, ....... have you done this before?
I wont lose anything else will i?
What will windows xp say when it sees xp already installed?

thanks again

You won't lose any important info when you do the repair, I know you might or will have to reinstall programs that are installed with various things in windows that run the program. once you copy new files into windows it won't have the same files associated with your programs. If they don't work, then you just reinstall them. no problem. follow the directions for the new copy of windows (aka repair) just don't format and you shouldn't lose anything. Its pretty simple and easy to follow directions.
