Windows XP Blue Screen

Somehow my hard drive seems to have gotten mildly corrupted. The system runs ok but chkdsk and Norton Disk Doctor both say there are errors which can't be fixed until I do a boot time run. If I do that with either, the chkdsk starts at bootup but then blue screens. As the system seems to be running ok otherwise, I am not sure how to proceed. I don't want to mess things up royally.

I am pretty sure I am going to have to reformat and reload everything but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that. Are there any other disk fixing utilities that might help or anything else I should try?

do you have another drive laying around? if you do do this..

Load XP on the other drive,
Set the Drive with the problems to slave
Boot up,
Run chkdsk on the corrupt drive

That is a good suggestion. I do have an old used IBM drive which was sent to me after the original drive went bad. But, with all the bad publicity at the time, I was afraid to put it back in. It might do in this case though. I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend!
