Windows XP and Promise Controller (clicking sound)

It seems that winXP drivers that MS deliveres makes the HD on my promise controller make clicking sounds when I shut down the PC. I know 'cause I installed Win2k and used the newest release from MS to my controller and the sound appeared. I then installed drivers from promise and it stopped.

Well my problem is now that promise doens't support winXP and I can't seem to use the win2k drivers 🙁.

Anybody in here know this problem or have it too??.

Any good solutions. I think that problem broke my other HD 5 days ago 🙁

No, the new Promise driver for the controller via Windows update for Win2K caused a bad spot to appear on one of my partition plus clicking. I re-installed the old one that came with Win2K and things are back to normal.

So you did an upgrade I suppose, my problem is that this isn't an upgrade. I can't install the win2k drivers. WinXP simply want accept it 🙁

Are you saying there is not a stock default driver on the CD? When you first installed did it not load a compatiable driver for you to use in XP, or did you have to specify the "Have Disk" option? Which card is it?
