I have a pirated copy of xp pro, and I tried to get updates but I am REQUIRED TO validate the copy and I am denied by M$ . I can't afford retail XP because of economic problems in house. Should I leave Windows and switch to Linux? I am VERY NEWBIE to Linux and I don't know what to do with my pirated xp; please help me.

No discussion of piracy or ANY other form of fraud is tolerated here. You have a dual proc system and can't afford XP home? Please get real.

i have a suspicion that you are going to receive alot of flack for this post.

dont use windows update...

or set Windows Updates to "automatic " and you will have no problem with sceruity updates.

How about OEM WinXP Home Edition, it's around $90. It's a one-use license, but it's half the price of retail. link to legit OEM WinXP Home Edition with Service Pack 2.

Otherwise, sure, use an open-source OS. There will probably be five people posting that the Microsoft Genuine thing can be easily circumvented, which is true, but if you actually want a legit WinXP, then see if you can afford the OEM license. :)

Then get the Professional edition, it's another $50 or so and I think it's worth it anyway. And/or take out one processor and sell it to raise money?

edit: FYI, if you have one HT processor, WinXP Home Edition will see both virtual CPUs just fine.

This is quite possibly the most pathetic attempt at trolling I have ever seen.
