Windows XP and Norton 2002

I have Win XP pro and Norton System works pro and is just me or is Norton Utilities completely crippled on XP. The Win doctor is the only one that works normaly. All of the others have some new interface with no options which make s it useless. Disk doctor has limited scaning but cannot fix errors in window. This is more or less fine as it still works and can fix errors on boot, and even the Win XP scandisk cannot fix errors in windows. The problems arise with whipe info. I need to whipe free space but I don't have that option anymore and then I tried going through speed disk. SPEED DISK is horable. The new interface is completely useless with nearly no options. It cannot whipe free space at all but now even though it has support for infrequently accessed files by defauld I cannot specify what time frame to consider infrequent. The same goes for other settings but the worst is the pagefile or swap file. It no longer puts the swap file first like in 2001. I tried adding the page file to the files first list but it did not seem to work and I don't seem to have any way to actualy see if it is first as the color coding isn't holding up and I can't click on a block and see what is stored there like I could in 2001. So right now I need some software to tell me where what is actualy stored on the hard drive and then put the pagefile at the beggining of the drive. Most impostantly though the scan disk window is horable as you can hardly see if it is doing something and it took about a full day (24 hours) to defragment my 20 GB hard drive which took less then 30 min with 2001. And the optimization did not work as I can see that there are stilll many fragments and the analysis shaws that filse that before used to have several fragments now have several hundred fragments and on a secondary hard drive which a ctualy had only one fragmante file with 2 fragments wound up with many files of 10 or more fragments each.

Has Norton or Windows gone stupid with Utilities that don't work and only hurt your system or is it just me. And most imposrtanly how can I get arround this and properly defragment and optimize my system as well as move the pagefile to front of the drive.

I have a side note, I have a small third hard drive I use for some MP3s and it only has 66 MB free space and windows always gives me a low free space error. In preveous windows I could easily control when I will recieve such a message for each hard drive but I can't seem to remove it in XP and I don't understand how eventtrigers work here.

I would apreciate any help on these problems.

Thank You

And one last thing: On the first day of use I already had an iexporer and explorer crases just like with ME. The program shut down the explorer display closed and then restarted but with all of the corner Icons hidden from view. This was my one ond only stabilty issue with ME and the biggest rason for updating as I though I at least wold not have to wory about windows core explores crashing on me not even mentioning iexplorer so what gives. I whent to XP only to have ME stability LOL with far less functionality and cufigurability?

Thanks Again

I also experienced explorer crashes in XP, yet not in ME. It took me a while to realize the problem, but I eventually pin-pointed the problem to overclocking. After throttling down my system, explorer no longer crashed.

As for disk defragmentation, speed disk was horrible when I was using a pre-release version of XP. After updating, I only installed anti-virus. I'm debating whether or not to install it utilities again.
