Windows XP and .net passport

Being ever so paranoid I would like to have a .net passport account but not link it to my user account in Windows XP. It seems I can't get around this. Is there a way tried doing a search on Microsoft's site and got lost.
 
The thing is I'm adminstrator and don't want to add any users to limit the account. Not only that the .net passport pops up all the time to set up a linked account.
Oh well, right now I am just going thru hotmail to turn on passport. just wanted something a bit easier. Thanks!
