Windows XP and HP Scanjet problem

Hey. I am using Windows XP beta, and I'm trying to use an hp scanjet 4200c with it. However, I can't get it to work properly. Basically what happens is I run the scanjet software, and the software says it can't detect the scanner. Now, I know that the scanner is stil working, that the drivers work etc, because I checked all that. Also, the scanning utility that microsoft built into XP will work with the scanner. However, I still like the HP utilities better because they have more different options for fine tuning. I even thought that maybe the windows utility was keeping the hp software from connecting to the scanner- so I disabled the "Windows Image Acquisition Service" and still no luck. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Or is it just another case of Microsoft squeezing out the competition?

Hahaha... I have this exact scanner connect to my Linux box...works great... I guess it just goes to show how much more hardware support Linux has compared to Windows.
