I'm really messed up. I KNOW I can save my data. but I don't to have to re-install if I don't have to.
I've got 3 hard drives, one 40 gig divided up into 2 Fat32 partitions, with windows 98se. That install of 98 is a little glitchy, but better than nothing.. I'll probalby end up phasing it out.
Then I've got the primary hd w/ some amazingly stupid (now that I realize) partitions.
I've got a C partiion for XP, thats 2gig. then a small 200mb partition of fat32 so I could install boot Magic. Then my Data Partition, its 30 gig.
Then I've got 2more backup partitions copies of the 40gig 98 drive. then some other partitions about 700mb for cds. like xp and 98.
now this was all working fine for a while, I even managed to use Partition Magic to clone these onto another hard drive... but I'm worried about the boot sector. there's got to be a better way to manage the boot sector.
Every once in a while now. when booting into xp on the first drive, I get an blue screen "unmountable boot volume" which would normally freak me out.. but I reboot, it does a chkdisk, reboots and then works fine.. what should I do?
How can I best configure these so that I can boot 98 and xp and have a backup HD (with all hidden partitions) running w/ a cloned or backuped partitions... right now they're visible.. but even hidden partitions gave wierdness...
