Windows XP and audio editing

It appears that Windows XP will be a fairly nice OS (ignoring the fact that it is more bloated than any MS OS before it). However, from what I've heard, it will include that SDMI crap that everybody hates. I'd like to know how it will affect those of us who do audio editing. How will it affect me in this situation (I do this all the time, but the former system runs M.E. and the latter, 2k)?

1...Record service at church on computer running XP.
2...Put sound file on Zip/Jaz/CD-R disk.
3...Take file home with me.
4...Edit sound on my computer running XP.

Will the SDMI "protection" let me do this?
Thanks.
