Whenever I open ACDSee 4.0 or Classic under XP Pro, it takes minutes to open. Then when I want to look at a picture, it takes minutes to do that too. After a few times doing this, it speeds up but the initial loading and viewing takes minutes.

When I was running Win2K, it was nearly instantaneous. Did Microsoft do something to their code to prevent other image viewers from working correctly like what they did to EZ CD writer 4.0?

All my settings should be correct, I've got DMA enabled, etc.

My machine is an Athlon XP 1700 w/256MB DDR2100 and my drives are IBM 60GXP and 75GXP on an Epox 8kha+ MB.

I run ACDSee 3.x on my WinXP boxes and have absolutely no trouble. I have it running on my dads XP box also. Works just fine. I think you're having a configuration problem. Do you load a sh*tpot full of plugins?

Wow, this the first time I have heard of ACDSee causing any problems like this..I use it in XP Pro and Home with no problems..Is it hanging up looking for a drive that you last opened files from possibly?
