I have been luckier then most people posting here because my Windows XP and 98 machines see each other perfectly. My problem is much simpler but just as annoying.
When both of my machines were, 98SE I was able to play a game called Red Alert 2 across my home network using IPX/SPX with no problem. I purchased a new hard drive, did a clean install of XP on one machine, and reloaded the game. The game plays perfectly on the XP computer in single player but I cannot play a network game with the 98SE machine.
I have both the IPX/SPX and NetBIOS installed on the XP machine but cannot play a network game.
I can move files back and forth between machines all day long and browse the web all day long on both machines. I have contacted Westwood Studios, ?The creator of the game? and they say it must be a Windows XP networking issue and I should contact Microsoft.
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
