The 64-bit version is just what it says- a beta. I'd personally buy XP Pro. Later, when the XP Pro 64-bit final is released, you'll be able to trade in your copy of XP for the 64-bit version for no extra cost, according to MS. You'll also have a more stable operating system until then.

Right now, there aren't really any applications that will truly take advantage of a 64-bit operating system, unless I'm missing something (a distinct possibilty).

Do you know where M$ said that, because that sounds way to good to be true, and very unlike M$.

Yeah, they've said that. This blurb here on Anandtech states, "For users who own a copy of the 32 bit versions of Windows will be allowed to trade in for the 64 it versions of the operating systems at no cost."

I hate to be so cynical, but because its M$ i won't believe it until i see a link where they have said this on their own website, not some other website saying that M$ said they'd offer a trade in program.

*Shrug* Alright.

They're also allowing customers to exchange copies of Server 2003 for the 64-bit edition.

That i saw on M$'s site, but the xp pro exchange thing i didn't see. Im not trying to be rude to you, its just that i really don't trust microsoft to follow up on something like that unless they have it somewhere on their website.
