Windows XP 64 OEM already released?

Was in a London Drugs computer dept. a couple days back and the salesman claimed that an Athlon 64 Notebook on display was running Win64. I didn't think to ask if it was the beta version or not, but later on I recalled how previous Windows versions were usually released to OEMs and available on new systems prior to Retail versions. So the title question needs to be answered, anyone know the answer?

It's not even done yet. They could be running the preview version, but I think it's far more likely that your salesman was full of BS.

This is Canada, he'd be a liter low.😛

IIRC, previous Windows versions were released to all users at the same time; but since the OEM partners could
create thier own discs or set up thier own installs, they often got a head start on loading it over
the rest of the market that had to wait for the MS packaged code.

If it had been released, then all the beta testers (who are released from NDAs) would be in here giving us a low
down on what to expect from it.
