Windows xp 64-bit memory problems

Forced to go from 8gb ram to 6gb
I've been having a lot of problems with my computer restarting automatically after I install certain kinds of software or drivers.
I noticed that I don't have problems when I drop down to 6gb ram instead of 8gb ram.
what is the deal?Huh??

Maybe you need to bump up your RAM voltage a little cus you more than likely have all the RAM slots filled with the 8GB.

There may be other settings you can tweak in your BIOS that may fix your problem. I had an Asus P5Q3 with 4x2GB that was unstable, but it worked fine with any 2 of the 2GB sticks. I ended up setting "AI Clock Twister" from "AUTO" to "Moderate" and after that it was perfectly stable with the 8GB.

One of your DIMMs might have faults on it. Run memtest with the 6GB configuration that works and the 8GB configuration that doesn't to diagnose.
