windows xp 64 bit freezes during installl

No matter how many times i format and try to install it will get half way through the install and then I get a bsod. After 10 times i need some advice.

Guess you had to ask i have a amd64 939 3500+ with 1 gig crucial on an msi k8n n4 board.

Whats the BSOD indicate? Latest bios on the box? Latest drivers for the hd controller?

hmmm latest bios and latest drivers, as for bsod indicate i would hace to try and install again.

There is no blue screen which says 'try again'. The blue screen indicates what error has occured, and often in what driver. With this information, we'll be in a much better situation to suggest what the issue may be.

Sorrry I know there is no bsod like that!!!!I meant I would havet o try the install again and write the bsod down this time!

ok the bsod says machine check exception, i disabled everything in the bios that i didnt need nad still get this error.

I presume you've taken EVERY expansion card out of it? You've tried alternating sticks of memory - ie, if you have 2x512, take one out and try to install with that. If it fails, swap the sticks and try again.

edit: and did xp32 install ok?
