Im wondering if u've got A64 system running.. if having 64bit OS is a must or not... or if there are any apparent performance gains with 64bit...

There are performance gains - on the beta that I used the system was a lot...."snappier" I would say. Not necessarily super fast just it responded very very quickly to stuff.

But I agree....wait for drivers to come out for all of your peripherals. My scanners don't have them...graphics tablet doesn't have them...so I'm out of luck until all my stuff is supported.

Woah woah woah... That's just not right. There are performance advantages in some things iwth 64-bit, but in no way, shape or form does 64-bit imply double the speed.

Will 32bit apps run any faster at all?

I think that there were some benchmarks on THG which indicated that in general 32 bit apps would run a bit faster in a 64 bit environment. I don't think that it was dramatic or anywhere near double the performance, however. I'll see if I can find the article.
