I downloaded build 2504 this morning from an xdcc bot, averaged 185 KB/s. Took ~40 minutes, not too bad.:D

Have you tried it, or you just heard people saying MS was the devil? ;) XP is Win2K with a nicer GUI, and nifty little features. If Hercules could fix their drivers for my sound card, I'd be running it full time.

What does "Final Release Candidate" mean in real-speak? Kinda final? Almost final? Our deadline is approaching fast so we are calling it done final?

Release Candidate

It means, this could be the one that is chosen for the final version that goes on sale, but not necessarily. They have to get some feedback from their beta testers first.

Well there's RC1, RC2 then OEM. (OEM is what will be given to OEMs, so it's the same as the retail box version)

Basically, RC means it's most likely done in terms of the features, design, programs that will come with it. From now on, they're mainlly going to focus on fixing bugs.

BTW, I know you guys are probably joking, but XP is actually very stable for a BETA product. I haven't had one crash or error since I installed it, and the only problem is my sound card, but I doubt that's MS's fault. I still don't recommend running it on its own until it's final, but dual-booting it to see what it's like is fun. :)

Its RTM not OEM, Release to Manufacturer. Everything is done but microsoft sends it out early to ppl like dell so they can certify their systems. THats how warez groups get the OS's out early.

MS's only mistake (OS wise) after releasing Win2k is Win ME. So far, XP is getting great reviews from beta testers.

I will wait for the final release though. :)
