I recently downloaded Grid demo and bought an Xbox 360 controller for Windows. All I can say is WOW!
It plays just like the Xbox 360 and since I'm using an 8800GT the graphics are incredible on my 60" Sony SXRD. I'm not writing this to brag, just to spread the word about the future of PC gaming.
Microsofts "Games for Windows" may be the savior to PC gaming. It's a brilliant strategy that I think more PC gamers should be aware of. Google "Games for Windows " for more info.
As for my experience I found ran into this totally by accident while looking for an alternative way to waste my time to CS:S and COD4. The 360 controller is the same controller used on the Xbox 360 with the only difference being a USB adapter that is used to receive the game pad signals. Set up was actually a pain in the butt because it took me a few hours to learn that the USB receiver is a power hog and I would need to use a PCI UBS card dedicated to the receiver.
As for games that are fully compatible with the 360 controller, not that many so far. Dirt, Tomb Raider, Grid, Halo, and a few other games are 100% compatible. Meaning they map directly to the controller and don't require any configuration. Other games will require mapping programs such as xpadder.
So far I see a lot of potential for the marketing campaign MS has initiated and hopeful it will improve the PC gaming experience.
