Windows won't show my USB hard drive...

Hello,

I have a USB hard drive and when I plug it in to windows the installation wizard shows up but the drive doesn't show up in My Computer. Do I need to format the drive or something? It shows up in device manager...I'm really confused

Go into Device Manager and assign it a different (unused) drive letter.

And you may have to partition/format it

Make sure it has its own power source.

You will need to put a partition on it.

Right click on your "my computer" click on "manage" click on disk management...you can figure it out from there I'm sure.

Yup, it has to be partitioned/formatted before Win will show it.
