When i turn on the pc it reads "Select R at First Screen to Start Repair". When i press R it just reboots the computer and says the same thing.

This first happened when I tried to install the Microsoft CD that came with my wireless keyboard. It frooze when i put the cd in.

It sounds to me like there's more to that message. Usually when you get a message like that there's an error message above it, like System32\Config\System is missing or corrupted, at which point it would tell you to insert the Windows XP CD and then press R once the computer is finished booting from the CD.

You can try that method and see it if works, otherwise, you'll have to give a little more detail as to the error that you're getting.
