Windows won't reconize Fat32 HD

So I recently brought a 1 TB Hitachi HD. I wanted to be a external HD that both my Macbook and Windows desktop can use. I decided to format the HD as a FAT32 partition. I use the Disk Utility in the Macbook to erase and format as a FAT32 partition. Everytime I plug the external HD to my Windows desktop, Window will not recognize the HD and want me partition as a new partition using NTSF. What am I doing wrong? Can someone tell me how to solve this?

It sounds like the Mac utility didn't format it correctly, or didn't partition it using an MBR partition. Maybe it used a GUID partition, which windows won't recognize for FAT32.

I see. That maybe the case. Anyway, upon further research I found a small Windows program call FAT32formatter to do the job. Thanks
